Straw Bales and Cover for Winter
This Picture shows how we set the footer/foundation for the straw bales on 2 x 4 construction with gravel in between. If the floor ever gets wet or flooded our bales should remain dry.

Here you can see my best friend and his son re-tying bales to size to make perfect fit bales.

In the back ground you can see our first wall filled in. You may or may not be able to tell by the picture but these side walls are 14 feet tall. We plan on filling the gable ends behind the plywood with straw also.

The last pictures show how we enclosed the house as winter was coming on as we did not have enough time to finish the project. We had to go out of town on business. We didn't know it would be till June of this year 2004 when we would get back and October when we would start again.

In the photo below, before we put up the tarps, I was on an extension ladder just above where the words "Come" are located on the green tarp. While installing the hat channel under the roof, the ladder and I took a dive from that position. The fall was about 21 feet, Ouch *&^%#$. It broke my left foot in 3 places (which had to be pinned) and compressed 3 vertebrae (the doctors said I broke my back). On August 4, 2003, three days after surgery on my foot, I was off my Vicadin (pain pills) because of a wonderful natural product called RegeniCare from Oasis. Oh, what a relief it was!
